Organizations

Organizations let you belong to groups and collaborate with others. This page covers joining, creating (a Subscriber feature), roles, visibility, managing members, sharing a LinkedIn company page, and leaving. Joining and participating are free; only creating a new organization requires a subscription.

Joining organizations

• All users automatically join "The Public", a system organization
• Browse Organizations from the top nav to see public organizations
• Click Join to become a member of a public organization

Creating an organization

Subscriber feature. Free accounts can join and participate in organizations, but creating a new one is a subscriber-only action (the server returns 403 otherwise). Joining organizations is free.

1. Go to Organizations
2. Click New Organization
3. Enter a name, description, and set visibility (public or private)
4. You'll be the owner and can add members

Roles

• Owner: Full control; can delete the org and manage all members
• Admin: Can add and remove members and change roles (except owner)
• Member: Basic access

Public vs private

• Public: Anyone can see and join
• Private: Invite-only; members must be added by an owner or admin

Managing members

As an owner or admin:

1. Open your organization
2. Go to the Members section
3. Search for a person by username, display name, or email in the member picker, select them, and choose a role; you don't need to know their user ID
4. Change an existing member's role, suspend their access, or remove them using the controls in the members table

The last remaining owner cannot be demoted or removed.

LinkedIn company pages

Organizations can share a single LinkedIn credential so members post to the company's LinkedIn organization pages (distinct from posting to a personal LinkedIn profile).

1. An owner or admin connects the org's LinkedIn credential (this requests LinkedIn's organization-admin scope). The company pages LinkedIn returns are stored on the organization.
2. Owners and admins assign specific company pages to specific members.
3. When an assigned member composes a message and cross-posts to LinkedIn, it can publish to their assigned company page using the shared org credential. Members without an assignment fall back to their personal LinkedIn identity.

For a member who has an assignment, the assigned org page also becomes their default LinkedIn destination: if they enable LinkedIn cross-posting without picking a specific destination, the post goes to the assigned page rather than their personal profile. If an owner or admin later disconnects the org's LinkedIn credential, every assigned member falls back to their personal LinkedIn.

Leaving an organization

Use the Leave button next to an organization in the Organizations list or in your My Organizations view. As with removing members, the last remaining owner cannot leave until another owner is in place (last-owner protection). You cannot leave the system "The Public" organization.

Your organizations

Go to your Profile dropdown, then My Organizations, to see all organizations you belong to and your role in each.
