Settings

Settings is where you customize your profile, feed, notifications, security, subscription, and connected accounts. Access it from the user dropdown (top right), then Settings. This page is the detailed reference for every preference, including the full notification and email options.

Profile settings

  • Display Name: How you appear to others (defaults to your username if not set)
  • Bio: Short description shown on your public profile
  • Avatar: Profile picture; upload a file or set from a URL
  • Theme: Light, dark, or system (follows your device preference)
  • Max message length: Character limit per message (default 666)

View preferences

  • Messages per page: How many messages to load at once (10 to 30)
  • Viewing preference: Show My Messages, All Messages, Followers Only, or Following Only in your Home feed
  • Show link previews: Toggle link preview cards on or off
  • Notification tray limit: How many notifications the bell tray holds before older ones drop off. The default is 20 and you can set any value from 10 to 40.

Message settings

  • Default message visibility: Whether new messages default to public or private
  • Advanced post settings: Show the gear icon next to the message input so you can attach images, video, and cross-post when composing

Notifications

InterlinedList shows activity (new followers and follow requests, replies, mentions, list shares, and more) in two places:

  • Bell tray: The bell icon in the top navigation shows an unread badge with your unread count. Open it to see your most recent notifications, up to your Notification tray limit (see View Preferences above). Clicking a notification marks it read and takes you straight to the related content: a reply opens its thread, a follow opens that person's profile, and so on.
  • Notifications page: Click See all in the tray, or go to the Notifications page from the navigation, to see every notification. From there you can mark all as read at once.

Email notifications

In Settings, then Security, the Email Notifications controls let you choose which activity also sends you an email:

  • Follows: Email me when someone follows me or requests to follow me.
  • Mentions: Email me when someone @-mentions me in a message.
  • Replies: Email me when someone replies to my message.

Below those, a Sharing section controls what happens when someone shares a document or list with you (or changes your access). It has two switches:

  • Email: Email me when a document or list is shared with me. Turn this off to stop the emails but still see the notification in your bell tray.
  • In-app notification: Show the share in your notification tray. Turn this off to receive nothing in-app for shares.

There is also an Integration reconnect reminders setting. When it's on (the default), InterlinedList reminds you when one of your cross-posting connections (such as LinkedIn) is expiring or needs reconnecting, so your cross-posts don't quietly stop. Mobile push notifications

If you use the InterlinedList iOS app, you can also receive push notifications for activity such as new followers and replies. Open the app and allow notifications when prompted; alerts then appear in your device's notification centre even when the app is in the background. If notifications stop, check that they are still allowed for InterlinedList in your device's system settings.

Profile location

  • Latitude / Longitude: Optional location for your profile, used by the Weather widget and similar location-aware features

Location and weather widgets

  • Location permission. The Permissions section can ask your browser for geolocation access. Granting it powers the location-aware widgets; InterlinedList uses the coordinates to look up local information and does not store your raw coordinates.
  • Location and Weather widgets. When a location is available, the sidebar can show a Location widget (city, state, timezone) and a Weather widget (current conditions and high/low). Weather data comes from the U.S. National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) and is cached on the server for 30 minutes.
  • Clock page. The Clock page shows a full-screen analog clock for your location's timezone.

Permissions

  • Email visibility: Control who can see your email address
  • Account visibility: Make your account private; new followers will need to request to follow you and you must approve them

Subscription & Billing

InterlinedList has two tiers: Free and Subscriber.

  • Free: post messages, follow people, browse and read public lists and documents, join organizations, use tags and read templates, export your data, and accept any list or document someone shares or invites you to (including email invites).
  • Subscriber: everything in Free, plus creating and managing lists and documents, sharing them with specific people (and inviting people by email who don't have an account yet), attaching images and video to messages, cross-posting to Mastodon, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter), and scheduling messages for later.

Manage your plan from Settings, then Subscription (or the Pricing page). Checkout and billing are handled by Stripe; you can update your payment method or cancel at any time from the billing portal linked in the Subscription section, where your current tier is also shown.

Security

Password

  • Change password: Enter your current password and a new one to update your credentials

Integrations (Connected Accounts)

Link social and developer accounts for sign-in and cross-posting. These live on the dedicated Integrations page, which you reach from the Settings page using the Integrations button. (Elsewhere in the Help Center, "open the Integrations page from Settings" always means this button.) There you can link or unlink any of the following:

  • GitHub: Sign in with your GitHub account. If you want to use GitHub-backed lists (lists that sync with GitHub Issues), you must connect with the Issues scope. If you already linked GitHub for sign-in only, click Reconnect for GitHub Issues in the Connected Accounts section to grant the additional scope.
  • Mastodon: Connect your Mastodon account. Once linked, you can select which Mastodon instances to cross-post to when composing a message.
  • Bluesky: Connect your Bluesky account. Once linked, you can cross-post messages to Bluesky.
  • LinkedIn: Connect your LinkedIn account for cross-posting (when LinkedIn is enabled on this instance).
  • X (Twitter): Connect your X account for cross-posting.

Once a social account is linked, you can also use it to sign in. Cross-posting requires a subscriber account.

Email verification

You must verify your email before posting messages or attaching media. If you did not receive the verification email, click Resend verification email in the Security section. You can resend once every 10 minutes.

Forgot password

If you are locked out, use the Forgot password link on the login page. Enter your email address and a reset link will be sent.
