People

The People page helps you manage your social graph: who follows you, who you follow, and any pending requests.

Access

Go to People from the top navigation bar, or open your profile and click Followers or Following.

Your counts

At the top of the People page you can see how many people follow you and how many you follow. Click either count to open the full list.

Following someone

To follow another user, visit their profile at /user/[username] and click Follow.

  • If their account is public, you become a follower immediately and their messages appear in your feed (when your viewing preference includes people you follow).
  • If their account is private, a follow request is sent. They must approve it before you appear in their followers list or see their content.

To stop following someone, visit their profile and click Unfollow, or use the following list on the People page.

Pending follow requests you sent

If you followed a private account and are waiting for approval, that relationship shows as "Requested" on their profile. There is no separate list of outgoing requests in the UI — check the profile you requested to see its current status.

Approving or rejecting incoming requests

When your account is private (Settings → Permissions), new followers must request to follow you. Pending requests appear on the People page under Pending Follow Requests.

  • Approve — The user becomes a follower. They can now see your public messages in their feed.
  • Reject — The request is removed. The user is not notified and can request again.

You can approve or reject each request individually. The request count badge disappears once all requests are resolved.

Removing a follower

If someone follows you and you want to remove them without blocking:

  1. Open the People page and view your followers list
  2. Find the user and click Remove

This removes them as a follower. They can follow you again unless you have a private account (in which case they would need to request again).

Private accounts

When you enable Private Account in Settings → Permissions:

  • New followers must send a follow request that you approve or reject
  • Existing followers are not affected — they remain followers unless you remove them
  • Users who are not approved followers cannot see your private messages

Switching back to a public account does not automatically re-expose previously hidden content to unapproved followers.

How following affects your feed

Your Home feed can be filtered by viewing preference (Settings → View Preferences):

  • All Messages — Your posts plus all public messages from anyone
  • My Messages — Only your own posts
  • Following Only — Posts from people you follow, plus your own
  • Followers Only — Posts from people who follow you, plus your own

Choose Following Only if you want a curated feed of people you have chosen to follow.
